Questions from Visitors to the Cottage

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take custom commissions?

Thank you so much for asking! It truly means the world that you’d trust me to create something especially for you.

At this time, I do not accept custom commissions.

Each doll I create begins with an idea, but her personality, styling, and tiny details often evolve naturally as I work. Rather than following a specific request or design, I allow each doll’s story to unfold throughout the creative process. This is one of my favorite parts of creating, and it’s what makes every Ginger’s Doll Cottage doll truly one of a kind.

I hope you’ll enjoy following along as new dolls arrive in the Cottage. You never know who might appear next!

How often do you release new dolls?

There isn’t a set schedule, as each doll is carefully restored and handcrafted from start to finish. The best way to hear about new arrivals is by joining my email list or following Ginger’s Doll Cottage on Facebook.

Are your dolls one of a kind?

Yes. Every completed doll is a one-of-a-kind creation.

No two dolls are exactly alike, even if they are inspired by the same vintage fashion. Each one develops her own personality through hand painting, styling, sewing, and carefully chosen accessories.

Are your dolls affiliated with Mattel?

No.

Ginger’s Doll Cottage is an independent artist studio. My dolls are handcrafted using authentic vintage or reproduction Barbie® dolls and are artist restorations or original creations. I am not affiliated with or endorsed by Mattel, Inc.

What kinds of dolls do you use?

I primarily work with vintage Barbie dolls, vintage reproduction dolls, and Silkstone Barbie dolls, depending on the project.

Each doll is individually selected and restored before becoming part of a new creation.

Can I reserve a doll before it is released?

Occasionally, sneak peeks are shared before a doll is officially available, but completed dolls are generally offered for sale when they’re finished.

Because many dolls find homes quickly, joining my email list and following along on Facebook is the best way to stay informed.

Do you recreate vintage Barbie fashions?

Many of my dolls are inspired by the elegance of vintage Barbie fashions from the 1950s and 1960s.

Rather than creating exact reproductions, I enjoy adding my own romantic touches while honoring the beauty of the original designs.

What comes with each doll?

Each completed doll is carefully prepared for her new home and may include collectible keepsakes such as certificates, archival materials, miniature accessories, or other charming details created especially for that doll.

Every package is wrapped with the same care and attention that goes into creating the doll herself.

Can I return a doll?

Because each doll is a one-of-a-kind handmade artwork, all sales are considered final.

If your doll arrives damaged during shipping, please contact me as soon as possible so we can make it right.

Can I request a specific vintage outfit for a future doll?

Absolutely! While I can’t promise that every suggestion will become a future project, I genuinely enjoy hearing which vintage Barbie fashions collectors would love to see reimagined. Your ideas often inspire future creations.
